Due to the decline of our bees and pollinators over the last 50 years, it’s essential as gardener’s we help our insects species to thrive.

All is not lost, we can help by planting garden flowers that provide food for a wide variety of pollinating insects.

 

With the help of volunteers from Refugee Futures, Bridgehill Day Service, Tees, Eske and Wear Valley NHS Foundation, and Team Patch, we have developed a neglected area of the patch into a beautiful haven for a variety of pollinating insects. The site required lots of work, knocking down brick beds, preparing the ground, laying out the planting areas and path plan, we also included a shallow pond. Raised beds, and ground level planting giving an abundance of pollen, it really is a stunning space!
